Made for each other

Another entry below.

Tony ran out to the store tonight to get some potato rolls so he could make sandwiches. I had a feeling he was probably getting me a Valentine card too, since I knew he hadn't gone out during the day today. He was gone longer than necessary if he had just been getting rolls, so when he returned home, I was sure there was a card hidden somewhere in his bag. But I was good--I stayed where I was (at the computer) and played dumb.

The next thing I knew, I heard him laugh. I turned around and saw that he had opened the freezer, so I knew he had discovered the ice cream and the ice cream cake. I laughed too. "You seriously hadn't opened the freezer at all until now?"

"No," he answered.

"That's why I put those labels on the stuff in there. I figured that way, if you saw it while I was at work today, you wouldn't eat it all."

A couple moments later, he sneaked up behind me and dropped a card onto the keyboard. I smiled as I opened it. "I have a card for you too--I just haven't filled it out yet." I read the card, and then added, "Thank you for the card."

"Wait, which one is it?" He came up behind me and peeked over my shoulder.

"What do you mean, which one? How many cards did you get me?" His only reply was a devious laugh.

I asked him if he'd looked at the cake, and he said he hadn't. "Read what it is," I prompted.

"Strawberry Passion..."

"Read what it says."

There was a pause, and then he yelped, "Red velvet!"

"See, that's why I got it for you." I told him the story of how I'd ended up getting it. I made some comment about him eating his ice cream, and he replied by saying something about me eating my ice cream. "I don't have ice cream," I said.

"Yes you do. Why do you think I was laughing so hard when I opened the freezer?"

"I kind of wondered why you were getting into the freezer in the first place," I said as I got up from my chair. I peeked in the freezer, and in the door were 2 of my favorite things--a pint of Ben and Jerry's Lowfat Chocolate Fudge Brownie and a bag of Hershey's Caramel Kisses. And another card.

"See, I thought I was going to come in and be all sly, and hide your stuff in the freezer... and then I see that you beat me to it. That's why I was laughing so hard."

As I read the card, he added, "Well, this is just one more thing that proves that we are made for each other."

That's a funny story! I hope there's enough room in your freezer for all that ice cream. Not that it'll last that long... Your Ben & Jerry's ice cream sounds good. I'm totally into the peanut butter cup ice creams, any and all brands. If you must know, when I am desperate with only vanilla ice cream in the freezer, I'll mash up my own Reese's and mix the two together :).
